Hmph. A weed huh?

[What's so special about something like that? None the less he found himself staring at it fairly intently. He looked over most of the reading material on the native flora and fauna to the region, but it was impossible to have it all memorized within the two months they've been stuck in Olympia. For all he knew he simply hadn't yet gotten to the part mentioning whatever the fuck this thing was supposed to be.]

And you think it's okay to just be touching it like that? For all you know you could end up having an adverse reaction to it through skin contact.

[Sorey, why are you so inept in dealing with nature?

Also, Sanzo still hasn't let go of your arm for some reason. Awkward.]

A weed. [ He reiterates. Though that seems to make him question his life choices a bit. As per usual, Sanzo doesn't help, either. ]

I know, I thought about it too. [ Especially after last time. Wildlife out here tends to be, uh... far less hospitable than back home in Glenwood. Sometimes he needs a reminder of that. ] But, if it happens, it happens! I didn't exactly come prepared to make any finds, but I wasn't going to leave without it.

[ Yeah, what was he going to do, Sanzo? Take off his swim shorts and use them as gloves?? The boy is way too modest for that! ]

Anyway, I'm surprised you didn't make any new discoveries around here!

[ He comments while (finally) looking around the lagoon.

Also, you can let go of his arm now, Sanzo. Aaaaany time. Unless, of course, that's an invitation? Well, even if it isn't-- ]

....... 'Tch. Whatever you want to do.

[He says nonchalantly, still grabbing your arm. Truthfully he's so oblivious to what he's doing he doesn't even really realize the awkwardness of the entire situation.]

Not like I own the lagoon. So you can do whatever you want.

[Of course, that is, it you're able to move anywhere at this point Sorey. At least his grip is loosened a little as his fingers casually find themselves fiddling with the leaves of your new found plant friend. You know, despite the fact that he was yelling at you for touching it with your bare hands a second ago.]

[ Hospitable as ever. And sure, Sanzo doesn’t own the lagoon. Of course not. But Sorey’s common sense says ‘ask the man with a gun if he minds company first before just getting in’. That’s fair, right?

Though he does slip in once the other seems distracted by the plant, settling into waters up to his waist while Sanzo fiddles with leaves. ]

I don’t think this one’s matured fully yet. [ Sorey comments somewhat tentatively. ] If you look closely, the edges of the leaves have tiny barbs that haven’t quite developed.

[ Yeah so uh... watch those fingers, Sanzo. Not that the leaves are sharp enough to cut in this premature state, but still. ]

Barbs huh?

[How interesting. So the leaves were a little sharp. He knew he should have been careful if that were the case but for some reason the mention of their texture couldn't help but convince him to reach out and--]

'Tch!!

[Pulling his hand away, he looked down only to see the small droplets of blood form at the small cut that now existed on the tip of his thumb.]

You're not kidding. Looks like it has such traits to protect itself. A weed with bite eh?

[And for some reason he reaches out again, once again fiddling with the leaves. Because for some reason he could not learn his lesson with the first cut.]

[ Sorey winces almost preemptively. ] ...or touch closely...?

[ And, welp, sure enough...

He’s not going to say he told you so, Sanzo. That’s not his style. Rather, he looks half-sheepish and half-sympathetic. ]

You okay?

[ Not because oh no Genjo Sanzo is bleeding out, waaah! Now who will raise his monkey-son?! but simply because he’s Sorey. Asking is obligatory. ]

Careful...! I found out the hard way, too. [ He holds up his palm to show a cut in one of the creases of his fingers, clearly caused by grabbing the plant carelessly and encountering a leaf on accident. ]

Eh, makes it better at survival than most of the people we traveled to this land with.

[That wasn’t at all a passive jab. Not in the slightest.

Which of course was kind of ironic for him to say as he was still fiddling his fingers against the plants barbs. Maybe he just liked cutting up his hands?]

Despite its edge the leaves have a softness to them as well.

[Although taking a glance over Sorey’s palms, of course, causes the monk to curiously lean over the edge of the water. Distracted as he once more grabbed Sorey’s wrist with his free hand to examine the cuts a little closer.]

Jeez, how long have you been fiddling and playing with this damn thing for your hands to end up that wrecked?
